Lovey's Letter

Asher Copeland, you are two years old now. I don't know how it is possible, but it is true. I am going to be honest and tell you that I was really scared for another addition. Everyone told me that Izzy was the perfect baby and there is no way I could have 2, and I better look out. Well, I was anxious for nothing. You are completely perfect too. Perfect newborn, great sleeper and eater. Always happy and content and love to snuggle. Now as a toddler, you bring a new joy to the house we didn't know possible. You are hysterically funny. Your humor is hard to describe, since you don't really speak much. Your facial expressions say everything that your mouth chooses not to say. When you run, you pause and get into a superman stance, every single time. When you are asked a question, you put your fore-finger to your mouth and say, "Hmmmmmm?" and then smile really big and say yes or no. When you meet someone new, you put your hands over your eyes and wait it out until you think they are not there anymore. You seldom win. Officially winning the most loving baby award, which explains the nickname, you are constantly showering us with hugs and kisses and you love to hold hands. Very determined, but obedient. You take a time-out every time one is given and you rarely complain. Each one is ended with a "orry" and a kiss. Two years old and you are still a fantastic sleeper. Nap from 1:30-4:30 and bed at 7pm. The other night, Papa was playing trains with you and I came in to put you to bed and before I could get the "Night Night" out, you had one leg up and over the rail to climb in the crib.
When you feel like you aren't getting enough attention, you do little things to regain focus, right now, it is fake sneezing. Apparently, you are a multiple fake sneezer, as they come in three's. Max and Ruby is still your favorite show. In fact, if you hear the theme music, I am pretty sure your breathing stops for a while. Izzy is your best friend, just as I promised him. You call him BoBo, his nickname from when he was your age. He only lets you call him that now, which makes Mommy a little sad. Every night when we put you to bed, Izzy follows me in, you both kiss and hug and say "Night Night". After you are in the crib and I am trying to shut the door, Izzy always runs in one more time to stick his hands through the slats and rub your belly and say, "I love you brother, hope you have a great night sleep!"
You are still terrified of bath time, but if Izzy takes one with you, you rip your own diaper off and jump in. This week you went swimming with a life jacket and a noodle. We were so proud of you. You have made a lot of big steps this summer. You are great in the car, and at the store. Mommy can take you anywhere as long as you are fed. You sit on our lap quietly throughout the whole church service. Every week you get compliments on how well you behave! You are very kind naturally and always share everything. If Izzy asks for a toy nicely, you give it to him. If you are eating your favorite treat and someone asks for a bite, you offer the whole thing. You never hit or bite the only rough thing you do is throw your trucks. We are working on that. You love baseball and that might be the only thing that you would willingly stay up past 7 to do. The cozy coupe is your other favorite outdoor activity. You load that little car up with random items and scoot yourself around, getting in and out of the door a million times. Which brings us to the mild hoarding habit you have developed. The other night I found you holding about 10 items in your arms and as you walked you would find something new and somehow figure a way to pick it up and add it to your pile. You never did anything with these items, but holding several things makes you feel better. Your other best friend besides Izzy is sweet Bella. Just a couple of months apart in age, you love to spend your day with her and if you hear her name you light up. Going to Bella's house could be one of your favorite things. You find her room very interesting and you love her toys. You also love her big brother Elijah and you are always trying to convince them you are big enough to play with the big boys.
Our time together has flown by and I am so sad to think that my little baby is growing up so fast. I can't be sad for long, because you always have me smiling and as long as you are giving out all of those hugs and kisses, I will be ok.

I love you Asher Copeland!

Mommy.

Missing

Sorry I have been missing lately. My life is completely chaotic right now. I have to blog about Ashers 2nd birthday party and I have lots of top secret stuff going on as well. When I can, I will blog about that too.

Hubby is officially a 2nd year medical student which is very exciting!!! This was his first week of break so on top of just wrapping up the birthday party, it is the first chance at family time we have had in over a month.

I was also informed this week I will be taking a 3 day business trip to STL leaving tonight! I need to pack and beg my friend for some "office appropriate" attire, since I doubt yoga pants and tanks will do. "La" as we call her is a girly girl and in all my 15 years of knowing her, I haven't seen her wear a pair of sneakers except for gym class. True story. She is my go-to closet for dressy events and I thank God for her this weekend. I have nothing to wear.

When I return from my trip, Izzy has a double header tball game and team pictures. The following day I will start packing for our first family of four vacation to STL and Chicago. We have never went anywhere that didn't involve family in some way with the kids. We are so excited to have the chance to plan an entire vacation, go when and where we want and make every event kid friendly. Our plan is to hit several children's museums, Navy Pier, Lego Land, the zoo, and hopefully have time to fit the beach in. Being slightly neurotic, The minute I get back from this business training, I will start making a list for each family member and need to find car toys, snacks and movies for the long drive. I heart vacation!!!!

Life is a blur right now. I am barely keeping up with things which is why my blog is boring and no one reads it. But, when I find a chance, I will have very interesting things to update with. Promise!!!

Ashers Owl Party!

Saturday was the big day. Family and friends came to celebrate Ashers 2nd birthday. I had worked for months on ideas and projects and finally, I was done!!! This party proved to be a tad more difficult to plan because Marcus was in full blown finals mode for the last month. I dragged my poor boys to every craft store in town looking for anything owl themed. Luckily, I am blessed to have a super creative and wonderful cousin Melissa from Maine who lovingly sent me some owl gear from her local stores. Yay!

So why the owl theme? As soon as Asher developed his personality, he just reminded me of an owl. He is quiet and wise before his time. He LOVES to read. He reads books obsessively and as soon as he could crawl, he would move over to his book shelf and pull out about 50 books make a pile and sit on top of them and read each and every one of them. When Izzy was in school our house was super quiet. He is content to be by himself and loves to play trains do puzzles and collect things. He rarely speaks, but knows and understands everything that is going on. He is always on his own mission. A train in hand he is going somewhere, he just doesn't feel the need to clue any of us in. He is sweet and super loving. He is constantly kissing and hugging us. He is all boy, but very soft and gentle.

I started researching my theme and realized quickly I would have to make it all myself. Which I am totally fine with. However, I didn't think ahead to my schedule and between the end of Izzy's first school year, Hubby's finals, friends birthday parties and family events, I was pretty booked. I got it all done in time and all in all I was happy with the results. I tried to keep it simple and not go overboard, which I have been known to do before. The party was super fun and relaxed. We grilled out, opened presents, had cupcakes and jumped in the pool. I prayed for sunshine and God heard my prayer and gave me so much that it was super hot and sunny. Better than the alternative for an outdoor party, so I was grateful.

A few pics from the birthday bash:

Owl pillows for each party guest.

How many licks does it take?
The owl cupcakes! They were a hit!

Asher was spoiled rotten and smothered in love from our guests. It was so sweet of everyone that came and it went perfectly. The only mishap was on my part when I went to walk out Ashers cupcake with his candles to blow out, and I didn't realize the candles made the cupcake unbalanced and dropped my decorated cupcake on the deck!!! EEEk! Luckily no one noticed and I picked that thing right up, put it back on the plate (it stayed intact) and let him blow out the candles. Don't worry, I didn't feed that one to him. :)

He was so tuckered out after his presents and cupcake he went right to nap. He missed a lot of time with his guests, but they all understood. We had a super fun time and I can't wait to start planning Izzy's party next. I only have one month, so I better get started!
